Engagement Coordinator (Internship for ages 15-30 years old):

The Alberta Avenue Community League is conducting an intensive community engagement project in the neighbourhood (92-97 St from 111-122 Ave). Work with the League’s Neighbourhood Connector and Facility & Program Manager to coordinate activities for a Neighbour Connect Project. The purpose of the project is to create opportunities for neighbours to come together, to know one other better, strengthen connections with each other, and become more engaged with their neighbourhood.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Help build a Neighbour Connect Team: find, train, mentor, encourage and supervise intern students and resident volunteers who will work over 4-6 months to make connections and engage with residents on each block in the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood.
  • Conduct online video meetings with neighbours and create promotional outreach newsletters for the neighbourhood.
  • Use various outreach and communication strategies to reach residents and help them connect with neighbours and the league’s programming and Neighbour Connect project.
  • Work with project leaders to create a strategic engagement plan, track progress and revise as needed.
  • Conduct pop-event events with team members. Empower residents to do activities on their block with neighbours. Manage league resources.
  • Create more resource kits and spark ideas to better foster community.
  • Track and analyze data from conversations, surveys and events. Help connect residents with similar interests or complementary offers/needs.
  • Connect residents with resources and services as needed.
 
Eligibility for Internship:
  • There is flexibility to work from home, but a large portion of the position will need to be done onsite at the community centre.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Part Time positions available 20 hours/week, $15/hour
