On February 10, the City hosted a Community Walk and Ideas Workshop to start the discussion on the future renewal initiative for the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood. The importance of this initial conversation was to understand what residents enjoy about their neighbourhood, where they have concerns and what ideas they have to improve livability. This is the first discussion, and we want to hear your thoughts. An online survey is now available to provide further input on how you live and move in your community - what's working and what can be improved. This survey will be open until February 28, 2018. Please go to the City web page - Edmonton.ca/BuildingAlbertaAvenue to fill out the survey. RSVP for workshop: edmonton.ca/buildingAlbertaAvenue or call 311.
Alberta Avenue has been chosen for reconstruction beginning in spring 2019. The reconstruction in Alberta Avenue is expected to be a 4 year renewal with anticipated completion in 2022.
Neighbourhood reconstruction is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as replacement of streetlights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter. Alley renewal is not part of neighbourhood reconstruction. It also includes the opportunity for two local improvements, sidewalk renewal and decorative streetlights. A series of public events will be scheduled which will give residents the opportunity to view the design plans and discuss details with the project team. |
