About Alberta AveAlberta Avenue is a mature neighbourhood, located just north of downtown Edmonton. Alberta Avenue is bounded on the north by 122 Avenue, on the west by 97 Street, on the south by 111 Avenue, and on the east by 89 Street.
"The name of the neighbourhood was adopted from the historic name for 118 Avenue. The community has used the name Alberta Avenue since at least 1922, as the Alberta Avenue Community League was formed that year. The part of the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood between Norwood Boulevard and 118 Avenue was formerly known as Norwood. Schools

As a parent, you have a choice in where your child goes to school. There are many different schools offering a wide range of programs to meet your child's needs, abilities and interests. Within our neighbourhood, we have Delton School, Norwood School, and One World One Centre, with many other schools surronding the area. |

Delton Elementary School Delton offers a full day kindergarten program and regular classes from grades one to six. They also offer programming for students in Grades 1 - 6 who are identified as Opportunity. These are multi-age groupings of students who benefit from additional program support and smaller class sizes and support from a teacher and educational assistant. Delton has a 1/2/3 and 4/5/6 Behaviour and Learning Assistance program. Norwood School Norwood School offers full day Kindergarten and grades one to six. A Family Therapist and a Roots and Wings worker, both from the Family Centre, join the Norwood staff on a part time basis. They also have a Big Brothers Big Sisters Boys and Girls Club Community Facilitator here at the school two afternoons a week. One World One Centre This site offers Literacy (Foundation L to 4L) and CLB classes (1 - 6*). In addition, 1 Home Economics kitchen, Care for Newcomer Children (13 months to 5 years old), a playground, a gymnasium, and a student lounge with access to three other meeting areas. |
