Our Neighbourhood

Welcome to Alberta Ave! Your Guide to Our Neighbourhood

About Alberta Ave

Alberta Avenue is a mature neighbourhood, located just north of downtown Edmonton. Alberta Avenue is bounded on the north by 122 Avenue, on the west by 97 Street, on the south by 111 Avenue, and on the east by 89 Street.

"The name of the neighbourhood was adopted from the historic name for 118 Avenue. The community has used the name Alberta Avenue since at least 1922, as the Alberta Avenue Community League was formed that year. The part of the Alberta Avenue neighbourhood between Norwood Boulevard and 118 Avenue was formerly known as Norwood. A portion, from 118 Avenue to 121 Avenue, was once called West Delton." -Naming Edmonton

Alberta Avenue has a number of local businesses, services, and amenities for Edmontonians and visitors, including:
  • Alberta Avenue Community Centre - The current building officially opened on February 13, 1982. Its modern design includes racquetball courts, a games room and a spacious auditorium. AACL hosts many community events and activities, and even has its own community garden.
  • Alberta Avenue Park - Located next to the community league on 9210 118 Avenue NW, Alberta Avenue Park offers the opportunity for children to play in its playground, and a place for pedestrians to take a break while walking down 118.
  • The Carrot Community Arts Coffeehouse - A volunteer run café, serving world-class coffee and locally made goods, that also showcases the works of local artisans.
  •  Paraiso Tropical Latin Market - Family-owned & operated since 1991, the market offers a wide range of food products and many other goods from the Caribbean and Central & South America. They also provide a variety of tasty, traditional Latin American dishes.
