Help improve Safety in our Neighborhood!

We created this page to help address the increasing concerns about safety in our neighbourhood; here, you will find ways to support initiatives in your block and the various industries across the city.
Safety committee registration form, https://forms.gle/tiJJ4t13c8ENQsUX9 register, get connected with neighbours in your block and get safety updates.
Here are some actions you can take to help improve safety in our community:
  • Report a suspicious property
  • Email the City Council
  • Join the Green Alleys Edmonton (by Art’s on the Ave)
  • Monthly Community Touchpoint Meeting - Commonwealth and Spectrum Temporary Shelters

Besides raising awareness of our safety concerns, here are a few tips to keep you safe:
  • Garage and Backyard Security
  • Protecting Your Home
  • Home & Property Safety

Problem Properties

If there is a problem property near you; report it and have your neighbours report it too!
There are a few ways to do this:
  • Report it to the Alberta Government
  • Report it to the City of Edmonton
  • Report it via Crime Stoppers

The more it gets reported the more attentions it gets; Additionally please consider writing a letter to council and other leaders in our community about the impact that problem properties have on your safety and wellbeing (and your family's if applicable).  Council has the ability to change how problem properties are dealt with but they need to hear from us so they understand how serious and urgent this is.

We have included a sample letter.  You are welcome to use this as a template but please do personalize it with your experiences.
